You are invited to take a journey through 5,500 years of history at the Archaeological Museum, which is located in the centre of Heraklion. It is one of the largest and most significant museums in Greece and all of Europe since it displays additional Cretan archaeological artefacts. It also houses the most significant collection of Minoan Civilization artefacts in the whole globe.
Items from Cretan prehistory and history, including the Neolithic Age and Roman times (6th millennium BC–3rd century AD), are on display in the museum. The majority of them are Minoan Period artefacts that were discovered in palaces, buildings, towns, tombs, temples, and caves. They include ceramic art, stone carving, seal engraving, micro-sculpture, metal making, and painting.
